Domain Driven Design and Domain Specific Modeling
presented by Peter Bell

A DDD Ubiquitous Language doesn't need to be executable, but "expert readable" Domain Specific Languages can often be a great way to implement applications developed using DDD. Equally the Domain Specific Modeling community can learn a great deal about DSL design from DDD. The evening will start with a presentation introducing Domain Specific Modeling as it relates to DDD and some thoughts on synergies between the two approaches. We'll then move on to discuss some of the practicalities of deciding when DSM might be a good fit and some of the pitfalls when trying to develop executable Ubiquitous Languages.

Peter Bell writes and presents internationally on Domain Specific Modeling and Code Generation. He is also on the program committee for the Domain Specific Modeling Workshop at ooPSLA and the annual Code Generation conference in Cambridge, England. He is CTO of SystemsForge where he has developed a software product line for efficiently generating maintainable, extensible custom web applications.
